NEOROMANTIC LANDSCAPES

2013  ||  INK AND GOUACHE PAINT ON RED PAPER, GLUED TO BOARD

These desolate landscapes are about war, destruction, fear, and evil. Nothing “Romantic” about them, but rather the title refers to an earlier war era of British paintings. The landscapes are bare, with denuded trees, barbed wire, and a cruel hot sun pounding down behind bare trees. A very frightened figure tries to flee evil. A feeling of despair and darkness prevails.
